Happy Monday, lovelies!
I am going to take a small break from
I have always believed that the way you treat your pets is a good indication of what sort of parent you will be. Right? Makes sense.
Well, in my case, this is very a bit disturbing.
Why, you ask? Well, because, believe it or not, I have a tendency to sometimes, okay all the time, be psychotically overbearing when it comes to the love of my life, my sassy little 13 pound furbaby Charlie.
Case in point- when he was VERY little, I would feel his nose pproximately three times an hour to make sure it wasn't hot, and even now I glance over to make sure he's breathing when he naps on the couch.
I am also ashamed to admit that one time I frantically rushed Charlie to the vet because he 'felt hot' and I thought he was running a life-threatening fever. The vet then informed me that it's 'normal' for dogs to feel warm because their body temp is much higher than ours. [What? I didn't know!]
There is more to this obsessive behavior.
In more recent news, I have spent hours googling 'coyotes in Ohio' to make sure that Charlie does not become the next Daisy Simpson. :(
Also, I may or may not have a pair of these currently in my shopping cart... Ummm, who wants to walk around barefoot in the wintertime?
I know I am just weird, but is anyone else completely neurotic about their furbaby?
haha. I have only had my dog since May! I did not want one, but my husband convinced me! NOW, I can't imagine my life without her! I hope I do not overreact when I have real children like I do with our furbaby! Since May I have taken her to the vet 5 times, and she has been absolutely fine 4 of those times! AND, I never knew their body temps were higher than humans until recently!! My dog is usually at 103 and the vet said that is normal! I am looking for sweaters/jackets for her! Not for looks only, but I really do think she gets cold with her naturally short hair/fur!
ReplyDeleteMy pups are my kids. They're a little bigger so they won't do the clothes and stuff, but I constantly know where they are, what they're doing, etc. I work with animals, so I'm constantly feeling for lumps, bumps, and checking their eyes for problems. I'm obsessed with it! I can't help it!
ReplyDeletePS- I love the new header!
Lol. We don't have a dog yet so I don't do this. I have had pets my whole life so I'm not as crazy about our cats as I probably would be if they were my first pet.
ReplyDeletelol, i'm like that too. Whenever mine are napping or sleeping at night, and especially at night, i put my hand on their bellies to make sure they're breathing, something i've done since the day i got them! i also throw them bday parties and make special doggie food and wrap them up in blankets when i think they're cold. whatever. :)
ReplyDeletegirl i am SO neurotic about my sadie! I took feel her nose, check her breathing. If she coughs i freak out. If she scratches funny i think something is wrong with her! oh lord.. what are we going to do when we have babies!!!
ReplyDeleteI am a crazy doggie mom! I love my mini dachshund so much. He's like my baby. My husband won't let me put clothes on him. He's no fun. I love the boots!!!
ReplyDeleteOh heavens. My cat is my child. He has his own bed, blankets, pillows. You name it, he's got it. He even has a Facebook fanpage haha. But this just means we love our pets, so it's ok! :D
ReplyDeleteAw! He's so cute! We have boots for our puppy but her feet are so tiny that they don't stay on. And she doesn't really like them! ; )
ReplyDeletehaha. I am the same way...but with my cat :) My fiance thinks I'm crazy.
ReplyDeleteHaha...we have an outdoor dog so I like to think that I'm not crazy obsessed...however, he is my furry son!!!
ReplyDeleteYour page is loading with all of these errors!! I love that little furbaby... awww.. its totally fine to be concerned about the little furry ones, xxxooo
ReplyDeleteYou are not neurotic, that is one cute baby you have to take care of. I love your new header pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteRachel
I don't like to leave Oliver home at all and try to get him to go everywhere with us. If he can't go his glammy and peepop (my parents) watch him. When we went on our honeymoon he had an overnight bag, his bed, cage, a picture of us and a tshirt with our smells. My mom died laughing...:)
ReplyDeleteomg i didn't know that happend to daisy! and oyur not weird..i'm crazy obsesseed with leo too..p.s. where are your new pics of you two from?!?!
ReplyDeleteLove my furbabies like they are my real babies!! All 3 are incredibly spoiled and think they are our real children...definitely my fault. :)
ReplyDeleteI do the breathing check thing too...I understand completely :D
ReplyDeleteGirl I am the same way! I love my dog so much and I am DEFINITELY getting her those little doggy boots, how adorable! She's so spoiled and she hates when her feet get cold haha.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with my little puppy baby! I just bought her a little sweater for the winter. Don't know if I will buy her boots. Hubby would probably laugh at me if I did. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, no shame there! We treat our two dogs like our children. Well, my parents' kids, my sister and my sibling, haha!
ReplyDeleteWe bought some booties for my bigger pup to wear in the snow, and he seriously walked like he was retarded and DIDN'T know what to do!!! It was soooo sad!
ReplyDeleteI am completely the same way...it's good to know there are other neurotic animal lovers.
ReplyDeleteI feel Mia's nose all the time too..the last thing I want her to do is get sick...pppssshh those vet bills can get expensive and nothing is happening to my princess (even if she is bad from time to time)
ReplyDeletemy pups are soon to get stairs up to our new bed that is too tall for jumping. except they can actually jump to it. i'm just nervous it will someday cause arthritis, so they get stairs. spoiled dogs.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how much you love your dog. I think this is perfectly normal :) LOVE my pup!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same with our cats ;-) Your dog is impossibly cute, I keep coming back on your blog during the day just to see his face ^^
