So it's official. In two weeks I am getting LASIK!
You see, I started wearing glasses in the 7th grade. And, despite the copious amounts of carrots that I consumed, my eyes continued to get worse each year.
So, after seriously considering (translation: whining) about wanting Lasik for over a year, my sweet hubs finally encouraged me to just but the bullet and make an appointment for a consultation. I went in for a consult a couple weeks ago and was found to be a good candidate.
To say that I am excited would be an understatement of the century! I cannot wait! I’ve always been not-so-slightly jealous of my family and friends who had perfect vision and have wished that one day I could see my feet without the aid of glasses or lenses.
Sure, the thought of putting my eye balls under a laser sounds less than appealing, not to mention expensive, but the idea of just waking up and being able to see clearly without having to fumble for my glasses or contacts is just so exciting!
I hope everything goes well. I have wanted this for years and I am thrilled that it’s finally happening!
I am stoked about being able to SEE! Plus my amazing Mama is coming to take good care of me during the itchy-scratchy recovery stage, so I know I’ll be in good hands : )

ReplyDeleteI got lasik surgery back in 2007 and it is TOTALLY worth it. I have worn glasses/contacts all my life but finally I too wanted to take the plunge. The day of, I wasn't very scared just more nervous. My dad came with me because I couldn't drive. They first gave me some meds to calm me down and when that kicked in, they took me back. My dad got to watch it all happen on the TV in the waiting area. I thought that I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough for them to slice my eye and shoot the laser but I was fine. Just a little pressure, but no pain whatsoever. Afterwards, the doctor checked again to see if my eye was properly sealed back in place (sorry if that sounds sick) and then he gave me jist on what to do in the coming days. I healed great and let me tell you that the next day when I woke up and I didn't need to fumble for my glasses...that was one of the greatest feelings. Totally worth it. Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteJEALOUS! I want lasik!
ReplyDeleteAhh, I am so jealous! I've wanted this ever since I heard about it. So excited for you! Did you ever see that SATC episode where Miranda gets the procedure done? Too funny.
ReplyDeleteSo jealous...I want so bad to get it done!!
ReplyDeleteah so happy for you! you will do great and be SO happy when you can SEE! congrats!
ReplyDeleteSuper exciting! I would love to get Lasik... its on my "baby bucket list" so I can see for those middle-of-the-night wake up calls. :)
ReplyDeleteI've worn glasses/contacts for what seems like forever and I've always wanted Lasik!!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious though, are you getting them done at a LASIK place or through a regular optometrist?
I got LASIK back in 2007 and it was awesome. After a few hours I could see fine, no more scratchy eyes. The next day I was back at work!
ReplyDeleteI'm super jealous of a previous commenter... I didn't get calming drugs! I was such a big baby that I cried and a nurse gave me a stuffed animal and held my hand hahaha. Sad, I know! But it didn't hurt at all, I healed quick, and now I have great vision :)
