I can't do that again... From now on, if there's a dog on the front of the movie with a big cute doggy grin on its face, I'm going to follow to instincts and head towards the movie with the man with a gun on the poster (big explosions...less tears).
Hubs and I just saw Marley and Me, and despite my gut telling me to stay faaaar away unless I wanted to be hurt, we still rented it. 2 hours later, I cried more for that dog than I have for any human person (in my defense, it's not like I've known anyone who has died...)
And whenever my mind wonders to 'that scene' I'm still nearly crying, even as I write this review. I loved the movie. Don't get me wrong. You will laugh and cry and never forget it. This movie is a masterpiece of real life. Marley and Me dealt with married life in a surprisingly realistic way with some of the funniest moments of dog humour that the previews promised. At the same time, never have I seen a movie before where my heart was torn out of my chest like that. For those of you who haven't seen it just know what you're getting yourself into. And although I knew exactly what was going to happen, I spent the last 20 minutes of the film just waiting and mentally preparing myself...and still I sobbed so hard, I could barely catch my breath.
Edited to Add: On a happier note, Britney pictures & reviews coming tomorrow! My camera is completely dead, so I have to wait for the battery to charge to download the pics. Overall, the concert was AMAZINGGGGG! [I have three very painful blisters to prove it]. Ms. Spears rocks!
Have you read the book? I found it to be worse than the movie...and that says a lot since I was sobbing for 20 minutes after the movie ended.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a wonderful story though. Glad you posted your review!
My MOH told me about this movie before I saw previews. She had read the book and said he died at the end. Despite knowing this, and not wanting to cry in the theater with my MIL and SIL, I still blubbered like a baby. And I agree, it was harder to read the words when I read the book after than seeing it on the screen.
ReplyDeleteI purposely will not watch that movie, because I'm a huge animal lover and people tell me I will cry! You are brave!
ReplyDeleteI am scared to watch that movie! I cry when I see the ASPCA commercials! My parents have a yellow lab who I grew up with. She is about 14 and is not in the best shape anymore. So I've decided I need to wait at least a year or more to watch that movie otherwise I will be in really bad shape.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Britney pics!
oh gosh! this movie. ahh i cried all the way home and as soon as i entered my house i grabbed my puppy carson and rocked him to sleep lol. i looked horrible when i left the theater that night. woo..
ReplyDeleteI've heard this several times. I still want to see it though! I'm waiting for it to come out on PPV on our TV!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I'm such a sap. We watched Nights in Rodanthe last night and I bawled. But even knowing how heartbreaking Marley and Me will be, I'll most likely watch it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could watch it..I hate crying during movies, and out of the hundreds of reviews I got from that movie, pratically everybody cried..I don't think my lil heart or eyes could take it. :)
